Hand Painting
|
We hand paint all homes - and on certain kinds of projects,
our prices are competitive to a quick spray job!
Consider the following facts, and decide for yourself how you want the paint applied to your home:
Spraying vs. Hand Painting
- Life of paint job
Spraying
(Average): 3-6 Years
Hand Painting (Average): 8-11 years |
- Thickness of coat
Spraying
(Average): 1.12 mils
Hand Painting (Average): 2.04 mils
This extra paint takes longer to wear away, and is
more effective in protecting your home from the
damaging elements. |
- Adhesion
| Spraying
applies a smooth even coat of paint to the
surface. Because wood is porous, however,
paint must be pushed into the pores of the wood to
get proper adhesion. Brushing allows the paint
to get proper "bite", keeping it from
peeling away later.

- Application to grooves
and joints
| Grooves,
joints, and areas of overlap on your home need an
extra thick coat of paint to protect against
moisture. Exterior moisture can enter through
these areas and collect in your wood siding.
Moisture causes the wood to swell an excessive
amount, which leads to grain cracking and poor paint
adhesion. Coupled with proper amounts of
caulking, brushing these areas applies sufficient
paint to keep moisture out. |
